Namibia straddles two great deserts, The Namib (the oldest desert on the planet) and The Kalahari. A vast country adrift in its own universe. Your journey begins on a flight to Windhoek and then small aircraft to Sossusvlei in The Namib Naukluft Park. Accommodation is at a luxury desert lodge. The ochre red sand dunes rise to an incredible height of over 300 metres. You can walk up or just enjoy the sheer beauty. There is the opportunity to take a breathtaking balloon ride above the desert floor. Time is forgotten in the peace and tranquility.
On to Etosha Pan, “The Great White Place”, Namibia’s largest wildlife park a contrasting diverse mix of savannah, salt pans and desert dunes. Accommodation in a choice of luxury safari camps bordering the reserve, ranging from an old German fort to treetop tented splendour. Here you find the big herds - Kudu, Wildebeest, Eland, Desert Oryx, and thousands of Springbok and Black Faced Impala. Larger animals are here too, Elephants, Black Rhino as are the carnivores, the Black Maned Lion and Brown Hyenas.
You travel next to Damaraland, breathtaking desert scenery and huge granite boulders, this is a time for peace with nature and solitude. The name of your luxury lodge means “A place of God” .There are game drives, hot air ballooning and the elusive Desert Elephants. There is time to be at one with nature.
Finally, you move to Swakopmund, a pleasing mixture of sea and sand, palm lined streets, good beaches and great food. The Teutonic influence is easy to see, and german food is prevalent. There is also the famous Hansa Brewery Hotel. Accommodation is in a luxury hotel. There are a number of activities for the adventurous, sand boarding, quad biking in the dunes and a fly over the vast skeleton coast, so named by the number of souls lost travelling inland from shipwrecks on the harsh coastline.
