Namibia

03

Namibia, a vast sparsely populated country, roughly 27 times larger than Belgium. The cities have a German feel, the country was German South West Africa when first settled. There are numerous war graves from both world wars that are visited by many. The Namib desert is the second oldest in the world after the Gobi. In the east, The Skeleton coast itself is truly beautiful and stark in its splendour. To the east are  the Angolan mountains.  The scenery makes this country special in all it has to offer. It is said the country is so vast at sunset the silence is deafening.

A very special place to see wildlife, lions, elephants, hyenas and giraffes all slightly different to their savanah cousins, adapted to meet desert conditions. The desert Elephants for instance are slightly smaller than the normal African Elephant with much larger padded feet to cope with the shifting sands. All sightings are special in this land. A must is to visit the gold and diamond areas now mined out, there are towns in the middle of the desert which are now ghost towns, houses filled with sand.
